My work

I am an independent jeweller based in Sussex.

All my work begins outdoors. I forage for fragments of textured tree bark, which form the basis of my jewellery. I then use the traditional technique of lost wax casting to turn the cuttings into handcrafted contemporary jewellery.

The organic texture of tree bark is central to my work. My pieces are designed to respect the bark's natural aesthetic and explore the fascinating irregularity and connectivity of nature.

The English Oak collection uses bark that is deeply fissured and sculptural. The texture is the most cracked and irregular of my collections, hinting at the tree’s ancient heritage in our landscape.

The Lined Oak collection is a companion to the English Oak collection, featuring textures from the inside of an oak’s bark. This side of the bark has been protected from nature’s elements. It has a subtly linear aesthetic that is less ‘wild’ than the outer bark of the English Oak collection.

The Hawthorn collection is characterised by dense textures that tend to undulate rather than crack, mirroring the tree’s resilience. The texture feels weather-worn yet refined – suitable for dressing up or down.

The Silver Birch collection plays on the tree’s smooth bark, punctuated by its characteristic ‘lenticels’ – horizontal pores that help the birch to breathe.

The London Plane bark is famous for its exfoliating effect. It falls to the ground in flakes as the tree grows, helping to shed pollutants. The texture is delicate and detailed, lending itself to designs with small and scattered gemstones.

The Bamboo collection uses fine strands of hardy bamboo that I cast from cuttings in my garden. The designs are light and distinctive, perfect for wearing every day.
