This one-of-a-kind 9ct yellow gold ring takes its inspiration from a scientific theory called the ‘Mother Tree’ (or ‘hub tree’).

Research by Dr Susanna Simard at the turn of the century discovered that trees nurture relationships much like humans. Step into a forest and you will walk between trees that are ‘talking’ to one another, sending excess carbon and nitrogen through underground networks to help the community thrive.

The Mother Tree is a central figure in the community. Just like a human mother, she feeds her kin seedlings – her children – so they have enough nutrients to grow. And she forms relationships with other families around her – relationships that look a lot like partnerships, or even friendships.

In this ring, a 5mm green central sapphire represents the Mother Tree. She is surrounded by seven smaller green and white diamonds – saplings that she nourishes and protects.

The stones are set on a textured gold band that is cast directly from the bark of a black poplar tree from West Sussex. Handmade using sustainable materials, the ring is designed to capture the beauty and elegance of nature – and recast is just for you.
